Press Release, June 4, 2007
MUSICAL FEAST CHORAL SOCIETY REACHES OUT TO NEW ORLEANS MUSICIANS
The Musical Feast Choral Society of Greater Lewisville recently performed its season’s final concert, titled Feast of New Orleans, at the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Lewisville. The concert included a mix of jazz and gospel music that emphasized both New Orleans’ famed spirit of festivity and expressed hope for this national treasure that was so devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The concert concluded with the gospel song, “The Storm is Passing Over,” followed by jazz favorite, “Blue Skies.”
Proceeds from the concert have been designated to benefit two musical charitable causes. Half will go to Habitat for the Humanities’ Musicians’ Village, established by jazz performers Harry Connick, Jr. and Branford and Ellis Marsalis, to assist New Orleans jazz musicians who lost their homes. These homes will allow displaced musicians the opportunity to come back to a new home and make music once again in the great jazz halls of New Orleans.
The other half of the proceeds will go to Benjamin Franklin High School on the campus of the University of New Orleans to help buy band instruments for its students. Benjamin Franklin High School has been awarded many honors of excellence and has been featured in Newsweek. It is considered to be one of the top high schools in the country, noted for its academics and excellence in the arts.
“We are so pleased to be able to do this for the musicians of New Orleans. It is made possible by the generosity of our patrons and by the dedication of our singers,” says Sally Neel, Artistic Director of Musical Feast. “It will take many years to make a significant dent in the recovery of this great city and the surrounding areas. There was just so much devastation. We are proud that we can offer our support on behalf of our patrons and the City of Lewisville.”
Musical Feast Choral Society consists of volunteer amateur singers from Lewisville and surrounding areas. They perform four concerts in each season and assist with city festivals. Musical Feast is sponsored by the Greater Lewisville Arts Council and the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Lewisville. Call 972-722-1815 for information on how to join, or visit musicalfeast.org for more information.

The group is continuing to rehearse for Feast of N'awlins, which will be presented on Sunday afternoon, April 29, 2007, at 4:00 p.m. Admission is $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for children, students and seniors.
New membership is closed for the Spring season, but please contact us if you are interested in joining us for our Fall 2007 concert season. December 2006-January 2007

New membership is now closed for the upcoming concert, "Feast of Romance" on February 11, 2007, but we gladly welcome any new singers (intermediate to advanced), beginning with our first rehearsal for "Feast of N'awlins", on Thursday, February 15, 2007. Come join the fun!
October-November 2006
We are busily preparing for our upcoming holiday concert, "Feast of Joy", to be presented Sunday, December 10th, 7:00 p.m., at The Episcopal Church of The Annunciation. We also will be performing seasonal music for "Holiday at the Hall" in Old Town Lewisville, on Saturday, December 2, 2006, between noon and 2:00 p.m.
Great news! Musical Feast has purchased its own electronic keyboard. CLICK HERE to see us with the new instrument. Of course, we still have the wonderful upright rehearsal piano, grand piano and the magnificent Annunciation pipe organ, but this new instrument will allow us to have an instrument portable enough to tour with us when we are away from our regular facilities, and allows us an extra keyboard when we sing from the Annunciation choir loft.
September 2006
The Musical Feast Choral Society began its 2006-2007 season on Thursday, August 31, 2006, at 7:00 p.m., with a kick-off “Getting to Know You” rehearsal.
Sally Neel, who begins her first season as Artistic Director, has chosen music around the season’s theme, A Year in Feasting, for each of the three concerts: “Feast of Joy” (Christmas), “Feast of Romance” (Valentine’s Day), and “Feast of N'awlins” (to benefit New Orleans musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina). _
